Tinu's How-to do a twist on a french manicure
The French Manicure, a true and real classic. Boring you think? Not anymore! This new twist on the good old nail-do is everywhere – on runways, on photo shoots and on celebs.
You can either play around with glossy and matte, or try out new and exciting colour combos. We loved the nude and gold look and on our latest shoot of ‘Good Intentions/Bad Habits’ ,Tinu Bello, our trusted manicurist showed us how to achieve this trend.
First Step - Base Coat
Step numero uno is … yes you guessed right – base coat! As always a good base will make your manicure last longer and protect the nail from staining.
Second Step - Colour
The fun part! Choose your colour – we love Essie’s ‘Sand Tropez’ a beautiful nude and great canvas for any design you may choose. An extra tip from Tinu is to “always seal the edge and your polish won’t crack or go brittle as fast!”. Thanks Tinu!
Third Step - Nail Tip Colour
Gold, gold, gold! This Beauty Editor is obsessed with it, which is why that had to be the chosen nail tip colour. To make that part easier you can buy a small art brush and draw the line like a pro. If not, just use the edge of the nail polish brush and run along the tip of your nails. Ready, steady (hands), go!
Fourth Step - Top Coat and Clean-up
We have featured this little hero many, many times already. It’s Tinu’s trusted Séche Vite Top Coat. Apply a thin layer (and don’t forget to seal the edge) and off we go to step 5.
Fifth Step - Cuticle Oil
Don’t forget your cuticles – give them a treat and let your nails shine by applying some lovely cuticle oil. This one by Butter London smells like Pina Colada by the way … PINA COLADA! Need!
Tadaa! Here are the finished nails of our Beauty Editor Maxi. We love the twist on the french manicure and hope you do too. Show us your versions by sharing a photo on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #MINMAXMANI
We can’t wait to see the outcome!
