Elisabeth Hoff is sharing her secrets
Ever looked at photos of you and wondered what the heck you were doing – looking somewhat cross-eyed, grumpy or smiling like you had evil thoughts?
Well don’t worry, you are not alone. We’ve all had bad pictures taken of ourselves. And help is at hand – we asked Elisabeth Hoff, Beauty Photographer and founder of MINMAX Beauty, to share her top tricks on how to ALWAYS take a great picture.
How to look great in pictures
1. Keep Perspective & Reduce Fear of the camera
Ok – so lets just get one thing clear. It’s only a picture. It can be deleted (most of the time) and it is not who you truly are – only a 2D version of yourself. Everyone has had a bad picture taken now and again – and always remember: others don’t really care how you look in a photograph. They are too worried about their own bad pictures.
By keeping the right perspective we reduce fear and therefore feel more relaxed – which makes us look better. Next time you see a camera think of it as a friend, not an enemy. That takes us to point 2.
2. Attitude and thoughts
Tune into your thoughts. Be nice to yourself. What makes you happy? Kittens, chocolate, a beach holiday? Imagine it. Happy thoughts make all the difference and will let your eyes sparkle.
Pretend you are the star of the party and show off your gorgeous smile – hey, if you feel like it do a funny face or give a big grin, whatever feels right in the moment. Fake it till you make it.
3. Relax and Enjoy
If you already practice the two tips above, you have nothing to worry about, so all that’s left to do is to relax and enjoy the process – and a little bit of a hair-do and some make-up doesn’t hurt.
PS. Take lots of pictures and choose the best one. Delete the rest. And have fun!
