Our new story ‘Eye Box‘ is out. In this story we gave make-up artist Harriet Hadfield five very different ‘of-the-moment’ eye-shadow palettes to play with from Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, YSL and Illamasqua.
Whether you want a MIN or a MAX look – there will always be a palette out there to suit your needs…here are two of them.

Les 4 Ombres 228 Tisse Cambon - by Chanel
A wonderful palette for a fresh MIN autumn look. The four shades ranging from very pale pink to more intense purple, make creating a beautiful tonal look simple.
The most obvious way to use these colours would be to start off with a wash of the mid pink over the whole lid, adding the deep purple to the eye-sockets and around the outer edge of the eyes…and the two lighter shades under the brow line, in the middle of the lid and in the inner corners of the eye.
Harriet flipped this around and used the more intense shades in the inner eye – getting lighter moving outwards. She has also given the look a young edge by brushing the eye-brows upwards for a funkier look.

Fundamental Palette - by Illamasqua
This Fundamental palette with shades of purple, blue, yellow and silver is definitely more of a MAX choice.
This look from our Eye Box story is not for shy and retiring types. If you are feeling a bit wild you could match it, but you can do more toned-down eyes from this palette too.
The opposite of tonal – these colours work surprising well together. You could just use one or two of the colours at the time: a purple wash with silver highlights looks fabulous for an evening out…and a subtle wash of blue would look great on holiday with a tan.
We hope you will feel inspired to try something new…and maybe even a little bit exciting…
