In the last blog about my short film ‘War Paint’, I talked about how we use beauty products to help change our mood, help make us feel more confident..help us take on a new day – or the world for that matter! With that in mind I asked a few of the team on-set what their top mood-boosting products were, and thought I’d share them here with you.

Ruby Hammer – Makeup Artist

“My first product would be ‘Aromatherapy Rose Renew Body Cream‘. The smell is divine…. and I have used it forever. It is my cream and perfume in one, and makes me feel AMAZING. In fact it was what I wore on my wedding day, and I will always wear it when I need a boost!

My second is lip balm. As long as my lips feel smooth and not dry or flaky, I feel on top of the world. I talk a lot so this is important.”

Ruby used two during our shoot – both which she loves and uses regularly on herself and on her model subjects: ‘Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm‘ and ‘Chanel’s Hydra Beauty, Nutrition Nourishing Lip Care‘.

Heath Massi – Hair Dresser

“My two top confidence boosting products for hair would be ‘Clynol Hairshine Hairspray‘ and ‘Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray‘. Both transform hair in seconds. The shine spray will help tiered, dry looking hair look refreshed, shiny and healthy, and the Surf Spray will instantly give a sexy, salty, sun-dried, windswept style in minutres. Take your pick.”

Eva Haftmann – Digital Operator and my trusted assistant.

Eva was also stand-in model for our water experiments on the day. Thank you so much Eva!

“My products are these two:

Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel‘ – I use it when I am feeling stressed or have a headache or simply need a little boost. I put it on my neck and temples and it works wonders!

Mascara definitely makes me feel more confident and ready to take on the world. As I have red lashes it also makes me look more powerful I think!”

Eva’s favourite mascara is Le Volume De Chanel.

Elisabeth Hoff – Photographer and Director – That will be me then...

I thought I’d share my two favourites too:

Allure Eau De Parfum Spray‘ – I have worn this perfume for about 15 years. It’s hands-down my absolute favourite scent, and has become part of my morning ritual. I love the floral smell – its fresh, feminine and not too overpowering. I have an issue with heavy, musky perfumes that are strong and linger after you have left. This one is the opposite of that. It is subtle, elegant, makes me feel great, and leaves with me.

Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender‘. George Northwood put me onto this product last year, so I have not been using it for that long. It’s basically a dry shampoo – and is a real lifesaver when I am having a busy week and struggling to find time to wash my hair. It instantly makes hair feel cleaner, it also seems to reduce itchiness and irritation, it absorbs oil, and is a hair wash in a can. Amazing!
